fibroblast

what is firbroblast? how does it work?

The Skin-Tightening treatment uses small electric arch. tissues treated “sublimate” and we avoid spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas. similar to a tiny lightning bolt, with which dermal and epi dermal areas, which are affected by aesthetic problems, maybe treated without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding areas.

when the electrical arch- touches the skin surface (epidermis), the heat widens the pores and is subsequently transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. the result is contraction and tightening of the skin cells. consequently.the excess skin is reduced and the result is comparable to lift procedures or wrinkle reduction. most, if not all, methods of skin resurfacing are based on creating a controlled skin damage, which activates its healing and this leads to the skin remodelling and improvement in various signs of ageing.

Even though skin layers get damaged by arch in a controlled manner (by heating, fragmentation, vaporisation - sublimation and coagulation), they do not burn off as they largely do under ablative laser and, importantly there is no open wound during the healing phase. this is extremely important as this approach reduces the risk of side affects such as scaring, infection, loss of pigmentation etc.

After the treatment small dry spots-scabs form. they need 5-7 days to fall off and during this time the client should keep the skin surface clean and protect it with cream that is supplied after treatment.

Skin tightening treatment works similarly to an ablative (fractional) laser. on a minute surface of the skin accurately directed energy damages very specific skin cells to encourage regrowth and renewal. this does not only improve the skin tone and texture but it can also reduce scaring improve a number of common skin problems and increase skin contour.

It can be preformed on any loose/saggy skin area.

adVANTAGES of skin-tightening vs surgery

  • NO injectable anaesthetic required

  • NO cutting of the skin

  • NO stitches required

  • LOW risk procedure (minimal risk)

  • Minimal side effects and far less down time

  • Most patients can return to work the same day

  • NO thinning of the skin

  • Significant cost saving

    dermal fillers

What are dermal fillers and how do they work?

Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and can act as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.

Dermal fillers work by boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

Dermal filler injections provide an easy way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smooth the skin and give a more youthful appearance. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 9 months. Dermal filler injections can give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression.  As your face changes over time, dermal fillers allow you to control you looks subtly as you age.

Dermal fillers can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin.

anti wrinkle / muscle relaxation

What is Botox®?

Botulinum toxin has been used medically in the UK since 1977, and within the cosmetic industry for around 20 years. It is a purified protein which is injected to temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles relax, the overlying skin which has been creased tight into fine folds, also relaxes and lines and wrinkles smooth away.

What will the process involve?

Treatment for lines and wrinkles, or recontouring of the face, will always begin with a consultation to determine the correct treatment for you. If Botox® is appropriate, you will have the opportunity to have your treatment on another day, or if you feel fully informed and comfortable to proceed, the treatment can usually be done the same day.

The procedure itself involves only minor discomfort as we use only ultra fine (disposable) needles, The process takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Although mild redness and slight swelling is common immediately after treatment, this usually resolves within 30 minutes. Mild bruising is possible, but for the vast majority of patients, there is no real downtime and most will return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.

Effects begin to show between 3 and 14 days following treatment. We invite our patients back after two weeks to review the results, and make any fine adjustments where necessary. This is considered an integral part of the treatment and does not incur any extra charge.

What aftercare is recommended at home?

We ask that patients avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat (such as saunas) and massage of the treated area for 24 hours post treatment. Beyond that, no special precautions need be taken and you can simply look forward to the results of your treatment taking effect.

How long do results last?

Treatment results last an average of 3-4 months, although noticeably longer can be achieved in some cases. It is important to note that Botox® injections to reduce lines and wrinkles or reshape the face is not a permanent solution. Lines, wrinkles and previous facial form will eventually return and further treatments will be required.

When should I start Botox® injections?

People begin to show signs of ageing at different ages. This is largely dictated by genetics and environmental factors. In addition, what might be a concern for one person, might be attractive or even un-noticed by another. As such there is no right answer to this question. What is important is that each individual is assessed on account of their own personal concerns, objectives and medical history. We do not offer treatment to patients under the age of 18.

chemical peel

What is involved in the Chemical peel treatment?

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and then the peel solution is applied to the skin. Depending on the peel treatment being carried out, the solution may be left on the skin for a couple of minutes or for longer. The patient may experience some heat or tingling during this time. Once the time is up, the peel solution is neutralised and removed from the skin.

A skin peel is a treatment which uses a solution made up of different types of acids to rejuvenate and renew the skin through increased cell turnover. Skin peels act as a chemical exfoliant, removing the upper layers of skin and dead skin cells to reveal the fresh, new skin underneath.

A chemical peel is a treatment in which an acid solution is used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. In performing chemical peels, physicians apply alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) such as glycolic acid, or beta hydroxy such as salicylic acid. There are also other acid peels used for example TCA which is medical grade.

Typically administered as a facial peel, a chemical peel enhances and soothes the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation.  They exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and colour. In addition to full facial rejuvenation, certain types of skin peels can also be used for spot treatments and to remove stretch marks or rejuvenate skin elsewhere on the body.

The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world, and was performed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to help people achieve smoother, more beautiful skin. Today, chemical facial peels are popular because they offer nearly immediate results and some even have no down time.

 dermaplane

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that is taking the beauty industry by storm. The treatment consists of using a scalpel to remove the upper layers of the skin to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion. The scalpel finely exfoliates dead skin cells whilst also removing the fine superficial vellus hair from the face, commonly known as "peach fuzz." The treatment will produce a brighter and more youthful glow to the client's skin, leaving a healthy glowing complexion. The treatment allows skincare products to be absorbed more easily. With this repeated procedure it will leave your clients skin appearance noticeably different from day to day. Clients also find that their makeup sits smoother on their skin following the removal of "peach fuzz".

What is involved in the treatment?

The treatment involves using a surgical scalpel to finely exfoliate the top layers of skin (keratinized cells). The treatment is performed on freshly cleansed and dry skin. The scalpel is then positioned at a precise angle and the skin is pulled taut to avoid the scalpel pulling and damaging the skin. The scalpel is then lightly worked across the face, avoiding the nose area, working in sections to reveal a more youthful complexion.

SPF is then applied to the skin after the treatment if this is pharmaceutical branded as the skin will be hypersensitive to UV rays. We would not advise to sit in the sun or expose your skin to the sun after treatment though.

The treatment can be performed on almost all skin types except those with acneic skin or a low fitzpatrick scale. As the treatment avoids all harsh chemicals it is a brilliant alternative to those with sensitive skin, however, Dermaplaning with the correct training can also be used in combination with other treatments.

We take it in our interest of advising the correct aftercare knowledge and understanding the damaging effects of completing the wrong procedures after the Dermaplanig

When will I see results?

Initial benefits from dermplane treatments are immediately apparent. However, optimal results require regular maintenance treatments. It took many years for your skin to lose its vitality, and it takes time to regenerate new cells. You can carry out this procedure every 4-6 weeks.

What can I expect after my dermaplane?

The dermaplaning is non-invasive it has a low risk of complications and is one of the safest skin rejuvenation procedures available. Some patients report redness or dry feeling in their skin after a treatment, but this is temporary.Your client needs to be still and also not talking is advised.

Typical care following your treatment includes the use of a sunscreen if it is pharmaceutically formulated and avoiding sun exposure for a few days. I like to leave the skin free of moisturiser and I have a pharmaceutical product that is formulated for clinical procedures.

There is no downtime for this “lunch hour” procedure, and most people return to their regular activities immediately. Although not everyone, you may get clients with erythema occur to the skin and sensitive clients will need down time.

Will the “peach fuzz” on my face grow back darker and thicker after a dermaplane?

No. This is a common myth, but the hair on your face is not the same as the hair on your legs or bikini line. It will not be affected by a dermaplane in any way. You must never however go over terminal hair, that has been removed by waxing previously.

What should I NOT expect from my dermplane treatment? Regular use of dermaplane treatments can improve or eliminate superficial skin problems. It works on all skin types and colours to produce subtle changes, causing no skin colour change or scarring. However, it is not effective for problems such as stretch marks, keloids (an overgrowth of scar tissue at the site of a healed skin injury) reducing wrinkles, or deep acne scars. Laser Genesis treatments and medical grade chemical peels are far more effective in the treatment of these conditions

MICRO NEEDLING

What is microneedling?

Microneedling (aka collagen-induction therapy) is a nonsurgical treatment that pricks your skin with tiny needles to improve its appearance. It may sound a little medieval, but the procedure can help smooth lines and wrinkles, even skin tone (including stubborn melasma), refine enlarged pores, tighten skin, and fade scars and stretch marks.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

By creating microscopic punctures in the skin, microneedling creates thousands of tiny injuries. This triggers a healing response that releases a cascade of growth factors, which in turn boosts production of the body’s own collagen (the protein fibers that keep skin smooth and supple).

It’s a form of fractional treatment, which means only a fraction of the skin’s surface is affected. This means that recovery time is relatively short.

Microneedling also allows ingredients to penetrate dramatically better and work more effectively, by creating channels for topical products to be absorbed. As a result, the skin looks progressively better over time.

  • The treatment is quick (15 minutes, once the skin is numbed) and cost-effective. Microneedling provides both short- and long-term benefits. The skin will be softer, smoother, and more radiant right away (though it takes four to six weeks for new collagen production to kick in).

  • The treatment can be customized to treat localized problem areas, such as scars, dark undereye circles, crow’s feet, and neck or chest lines.

  • The recovery is short—usually just a few days, though redness and other side effects can linger a bit longer. “If you do more passes and go deeper, there will be more downtime,” says Dr. Emer.

  • Microneedling doesn’t involve the delivery of heat, so it’s safe to use on all skin tones without the risk of pigmentation issues that can accompany laser and light procedures. “It’s totally colorblind,” says Dr. Emer.

  • Though it’s mostly used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, microneedling can be used all over the body.

  • It can be used by itself or as a complement to laser treatment.

MICROBLADING

The actual technique of implanting pigment into fine incisions in the skin goes back thousands of years, but gained popularity for being used on eyebrows in Asia, with the feathering or embroidery trend. Later known as microblading, it's essentially tattooing, but it involves using a specialised and more delicate manual hand tool. Rather than giving you a block of colour like traditional tattooing, fine strokes are done by hand to create the illusion of real hairs, which is why those on the search for brow perfection prefer it. Many beauticians class it as semi-permanent, but with regular top-ups and great aftercare, it can last a lifetime. It's great for those with alopecia or people who've gone through chemotherapy, or just for the average Josephine who's keen to up their brow game.

  • Microblading fills out thin brows and makes them look more symmetrical.

  • The tiny hairlike strokes can look natural.

  • It’s a semipermanent alternative for people who aren’t interested in getting eyebrow tattoos or an eyebrow transplant.

  • The procedure is safe for all skin types and tones.
